Snarl-ups on roads leading to city from P’kula, Zirakpur

Roads leading to Chandigarh from Panchkula and Zirakpur witnessed traffic snarls on Friday. Rush of vehicles was witnessed on the Panchkula-Mauli Jagran road and the road from the Industrial Area, Panchkula, towards the Hallo Majra light point due to traffic restrictions made in Panchkula due to construction work.The rain during morning hours added to the chaos. 

The road towards the Housing Board light point from the Sector 7/8/17/18 roundabout in Panchkula has been closed for traffic, following which a large number of people drove to Chandigarh through Mauli Jagran. 

“It took me around 30 minutes to cover the 500-m stretch. Deep potholes around the roundabout in Mauli Jagran made the situation worse,” said Vikas, a Panchkula resident. 

The movement of traffic became normal only after 11.30 am.

Meanwhile, a similar situation was witnessed on the Zirakpur-Chandigarh road. Long queues of vehicles were witnessed from the Zirakpur barrier till the Poultry Farm roundabout.
