Patiala, August 20

The police have booked six persons for allegedly trying to kidnap a minor girl. However, their plan could not succeed after the vehicle in which they kidnapped the girl developed a snag.

According to the police, the 16-year-old girl was on her way to the school at Dhangerha village.

According to the FIR, the accused, who were later identified to be six in number, followed the victim.

“The accused were in a car and a bike. When the girl parked her cycle, the accused forcibly pushed her inside the car and fled from the spot,” reads the FIR.

However, the uncle of the victim, who was on his way to a gurdwara, raised an alarm after he saw the entire incident. He followed the vehicle in which the accused allegedly molested the girl. Their car developed a snag near Rohti Maurha village and the accused fled in different directions after the victim’s uncle raised an alarm. He reached the spot and rescued the girl with the help of local residents.

The police have registered a case against Dimple Sharma, Nawaab Khan, Harpreet Singh, Jagsir Singh, Satinderpreet Singh and Manjit Singh. The accused have been booked under Sections 363, 366-A, 354-A of the IPC and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act - 2012.

While two accused were arrested, the others are yet to be nabbed.
