Six accused arrested in murder case

CHANDIGARH: A day after a Nayagaon resident succumbed to his injuries after he, along with his friend, was kidnapped and thrashed before abandoning near Khuda Lahora, the Chandigarh Police have arrested six accused in the case.

A day after a Nayagaon resident succumbed to his injuries after he, along with his friend, was kidnapped and thrashed before abandoning near Khuda Lahora, the Chandigarh Police have arrested six accused in the case.

Three accused, identified as Anuj and Amit, both brothers, who are residents of Sarangpur, and Sumit, a resident of Ram Darbar, were arrested by the Chandigarh Police from Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night. They were produced in the court on Thursday and sent to four-day police remand.

While the remaining three accused, identified as Pardeep, a resident of EWS Colony, Sector 38 (West), Vicky Kumar, a resident of Sector 36, and Deepak Thapa, a resident of Dadu Majra Colony, were arrested late on Thursday evening. They will be produced in the court of Friday. The police have also recovered two cars used in the crime.

On July 7, Vijay, a resident of Janata Colony, Nayagaon, Mohali, along with his friend Rishu, was going on a scooter towards Nayagaon, when a car had intercepted them and forced them to stop.

The accused thrashed and bundled them into the car. They took the victims to a house in Nayagaon, where they were thrashed by the trio. After a few hours, the accused abandoned the victims in a forest area at Khuda Lahora.

The police were informed about the incident and the victims were shifted to the hospital.

The police said Rishu, a resident of Nayagaon, who was admitted to the PGI, succumbed to the injuries on July 11.

Earlier, a case of attempt to murder was registered at the Sarangpur police station, which was later converted into a murder case.
