Chandigarh, April 18

Kin of a 17-year-old boy, who was killed due to the simian menace in the city, are not satisfied with the compensation of Rs 13 lakh awarded by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The family now plans to file a letters patent appeal (LPA) for enhancement of the compensation.

The victim’s mother Bhupinder Kaur told Chandigarh Tribune, “I am running my household by stitching clothes. My husband does not work while my elder son runs a petty stall. I raised my younger son with much difficulty and he used to work. So, the compensation awarded to us is less. We will file an appeal for its enhancement.”

Amarjit Singh, a resident of Sector 22, was killed in an accident when a concrete slab had fallen on him due to the monkey menace. His mother shared he was working with a garments shop when he died and was a support to his family.

Bhupinder Kaur’s counsel Ekta Thakur said, “We will study the complete order and decide the further course of action.”
