Set priorities right

The decision to spend Rs 59 crore on three Capitol Complex buildings by the UT Administration seems impractical. Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation have a large number of issues which need attention. The tricity residents are crying for basic amenities due to want of funds. Construction of bus stops, sterilisation of dogs, construction and maintenance of public toilets, recruitment in police department, recruitment of sweepers and maintenance of parks are the issues which should be a priority.

MC splurges

The Teej festival is meant to be celebrated with family, but the cash-starved MC has been celebrating it with much fanfare. Such wastage of funds has been burdening the residents with unwanted taxes. The MC is spending public funds superfluously despite the fact that there has altogether been a deterioration of civic amenities as more than fifty per cent of the street lights are non-functional and the condition of roads in the city is deplorable. Since the Municipal Corporation has virtually failed to come up to the expectations of the people in respect of giving civic amenities, some strict action should be taken.

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
