Shashank Sharma scored 13 points as PML SD Public School, Sector 32, registered a 44-22 win of over Chitkara International School, Sector 25, in the opening match of the Rao Jai Singh Memorial Basketball Tournament at New Public School, Sector 18, here, on Tuesday.
Sahil scored 11 points for Chitkara International School.
In the second match, Sri Guru Gobind Singh (SGGS) School, Sector 26, drubbed Kwhaja Model School, Ajmer, 68-31.
Sunny gathered 18 points for SGGS School, while Sheikh Saif Ali scored 10 points for the visitors.
Hosts New Public School, meanwhile, beat St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, 52-35 to make a winning start to their campaign.
Kanwar was the top scorer for the hosts with 11 points, while Harmanjeet Singh contributed 14 points to St Xavier’s tally.
In another match, Creane Memorial High School, Gaya, overcame DAV Police School, Ambala, 49-44. Sudershan was the star performer for Creane Memorial, adding 16 points to their basket. For DAV Police School, Rahul scored 10 points.
GNPS girls advance
In the Shanta H Singh Memorial Tournament for Girls, Guru Nanak Public School (GNPS), Sector 36, outplayed Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, 44-2. Niharika scored 18 points for GNPS. Parul was the only scorer for the Sector 20 school.
Poonam scored 18 points to help the hosts register a 56-20 win over Creane Memorial High School in their opening match. Sadia (14 points) top scored for Creane School.
Vivek High School, Sector 38, beat Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Roopnagar, 37-26 after Prachi shot 15 points for them. Megha contributed 12 points to the Roopnagar outfit’s tally.
Kiranjeet Kaur’s 16-point effort helped Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, defeat Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, 38-16. Vaidehi (eight points) was the top scorer for Sacred Heart School.
2-day North District and South District Athletics Meet from Oct 27
Chandigarh: Chandigarh Athletics Association will conduct the two-day North District and South District Athletics Meet from October 27 at the Sector 7 Sports Complex here. An athlete residing/studying/ working in Chandigarh will be eligible to participate in the championship, the sports body said here on Tuesday. The interested athletes need to register for the event before 5 pm on October 26. TNS
