Patiala, May 18

With a view to consolidating their vote bank once again and revamping the party’s organisational structure ahead of the Municipal Corporation poll, Aam Aadmi Party’s co-president of Punjab and Sunam MLA Aman Arora today constituted a seven-member committee that will shortlist candidates for the corporation poll and recommend their names to senior leaders.

This committee includes Col Bhalinder Singh, who was the Patiala zone coordinator, Patiala (Urban) candidate Dr Balbir Singh and Patiala (Rural) candidate Karamvir Tiwana and four other members that will be picked by these two candidates for the 50 wards falling in these Assembly segments.

Arora, who was in the city to initiate his “Aap Aapnian de naal rubaru” programme to interact with the party leaders and volunteers from all Assembly segments of Patiala, said: “The meeting was to ascertain the reasons behind our defeat in the Assembly poll and get authentic feedback as to where the party lacked”.

He said the volunteers had highlighted various issues that included problems with the leadership, execution of the elections, ignoring the genuine feedback of party volunteers at certain levels.

“I have had a detailed interaction with the party volunteers and we will ensure that the sentiments of all committed workers who are serving the party since long be valued. That is all the more reason that we have dissolved the existing structure and are starting from the scratch. We are hopeful that the party will bounce back for the corporation poll,” he said.

He said: “The basic structure of the party will be completed within a month so that we can start the process”.

Aman said the Punjab team was working independently and the fact that they themselves were going to every district for the restructuring of the party speaks a lot about it.

About Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi’s allegations, he said no individual was bigger than the party and Ghuggi’s allegations that he had been used were baseless. However, he said the party values his contribution and hopes that things get resolved.
