Senate to discuss panel suggestions on PhD, MPhil

Panjab University, in the upcoming Senate meeting, will take into consideration the recommendations of a committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor for framing rules and regulations of MPhil and PhD guidelines in accordance with the UGC minimum standards.

The Senate will take a call on the GATE/GPAT/PU entrance test score to be the minimum qualifying criteria for admission to MPhil and PhD.

The 15-member committee, on May 22, also considered the request of persons with disabilities regarding the provision of a special admission drive for those who want to pursue MPhil and PhD.

The Senate will also take a call on the proposal of Prof Akshaya Kumar from the Department of English and Cultural Studies regarding alterations and additions in the research regulations of MPhil and PhD students. A meeting, on November 29, resolved that the proposal be accepted only for the MPhil programme on a pilot basis for five years.
