Chandigarh, June 16

The residents of Sector 21 have been facing frequent power cuts for the past one week. They alleged that for the past three days, power supply has been disrupted for 4 to 5 hours.

They said despite making numerous calls to the complaint centre, the supply was not restored for hours. MP Barara, one of the residents of the sector, said the power went off around 6 pm on Saturday and was restored after Baljinder Singh Bittu, president of FOSWAC, called a senior officer. Bittu said the residents have been facing the outage for the past one week.

The residents of the other sectors 7, 18, 19, 20, 46, 47, 48, 49, 51, Dhanas and 56 also faced interrupted power supply.

A senior officer of the power department said overloading was the main reason for the unscheduled power cuts. —TNS
