Chandigarh, September 16

Members of the student council and SDCU party went on a hunger strike on the premises of GGDSD College here today. They were protesting the college administration’s move to refuse admission to a number of second and third-year students due to the shortage of attendance.

Reportedly, the students were asked to go and take admission to some private university for completing their degree.

A student said: “The student council demands that all students who were not allowed admission should be taken in and the blockage of admission should be removed.”

The authorities maintained that they had warned the attendance defaulters. Later, the college reportedly agreed to admit the students and the protest was ended. —TNS
