Scooterist injured in mishap

CHANDIGARH: A man riding an Activa scooter was injured in a road accident after a speeding Bolero hit the scooter at the Sector 25/38 light point here today.

A man riding an Activa scooter was injured in a road accident after a speeding Bolero hit the scooter at the Sector 25/38 light point here today.

The Bolero driver managed to flee from the spot. However, he was later intercepted by a motorcycle rider.

The victim, who was on his Activa scooter, had stopped at the light point when the speeding Bolero hit his scooter from the rear.

Jatinder Singh, a resident of Phase XI, Mohali, who was also waiting for the green signal on his motorcycle, chased the Bolero driver and intercepted him near the CTU workshop in Sector 38.

The Bolero is attached with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

The victim, identified as Subhash Kumar, a resident of Sector 22, has been admitted to the Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where his condition is said to be stable.

The Bolero driver has been identified as Jaspal Singh, a resident of Fatehgarh Sahib district, Punjab. Later, a team of NCB officials from the zonal headquarters, Sector 25, also reached the hospital and offered all required assistance to the injured.

A DDR has been lodged in this regard at the Maloya police station.
