A man sustained injuries after a truck hit his Activa scooter before speeding away near the Sector 48 motor market here on Friday.

According to the police, the complainant, Om Parkash, reported that he was standing near the motor market when a two-wheeler rider, who was heading towards Mohali, was hit by a speeding truck in the rear side. The victim lost control of the scooter and fell on the road.

The truck driver escaped from the spot.

The injured was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, from where he was referred to the PGI.

A case has been registered against the unknown truck driver at the Sector 49 police station. The police said they were verifying the registration number of the truck which the complainant had noted down.
