In an attempt to widen roads and create new slip roads, the UT Administration is cutting trees at  breakneck speed. The case in point is the construction of a slip road near the Sector 37/38 roundabout. The authorities should avoid such Ill-conceived policies. The air pollution is on the rise and we, instead of planting trees, are cutting them.

Mayor should have A clean image

Tainted person like Rajesh Kalia should not have been elected as the Mayor of Chandigarh. One wonders how a person with innumerable charges against him, including a loan default case, can work constructively for the city. This will dent the reputation of MP Kirron Kher and the BJP. They could have selected some other councillor for the post. Political parties should stay away from selecting persons with a tainted past.

Road in Dilapidated condition

This is to bring to the notice of the authorities concerned that the road at Chhoti Baradari in Patiala is in a dilapidated condition. There have been instances when the elderly and students suffered injuries after falling from their vehicles due to potholed roads and defective street lights. The department concerned should look into the matter as soon as possible.
