Sacred Heart band wins laurels

CHANDIGARH: The school band of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh, has secured the second position in the Northern Zone School Band Competition.

The school band of Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh, has secured the second position in the Northern Zone School Band Competition. It was felicitated with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 7,000.

Nine teams from six states vied for the podium finish in the competition organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, in Shimla. The motive of the competition was to inculcate the spirit of patriotism and unity among the school students that comes from performing in a band.

Earlier, the school band had won the first prize at the state-level school band competition where their superlative performance was highly commended for brilliant harmonic synchronisation. Rev. Sr. Nisha, Principal of the school, congratulated the team members and their mentors, Ms Mangla and Ms Anjana.
