Rs100 cr earmarked for Rajindra Hospital upgrade

Health and Family Welfare Minister Brahm Mohindra visited the Government Medical College here and emergency wards of Rajindra Hospital, AP Jain Civil Hospital, Rajpura, and Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib, and wished students, faculty and patients a Happy New Year.

The minister said the government had allocated Rs 100 crore to upgrade Rajindra Hospital. “The operation theatre, water supply, bathrooms, parks and emergency wing would be upgraded at the cost of Rs 88 crore in the first phase,” he said.

Mohindra assured that bathrooms of hostels at the Government Medical College would be renovated and the problem of shortage of faculty would also be addressed. He said a project to extend areas of small hospitals in the state would also be initiated.

The minister distributed sweets among patients at the hospitals he visited and enquired about problems being faced by them.
