Rs 510-crore projects for Ambala Cantt

AMBALA: In a major impetus to the overall development of the area, the Haryana Government has approved projects worth over Rs 510 crore for Ambala Cantonment Assembly segment.

In a major impetus to the overall development of the area, the Haryana Government has approved projects worth over Rs 510 crore for Ambala Cantonment Assembly segment. The projects pertained to roads, drains, hospitals, sports stadiums, war memorial, augmentation of power and water supply and beautification of the area.

Launching several projects here today, Haryana Health and Sports Minister Anil Vij, who represents Ambala Cantonment, laid foundation stones of a bridge worth Rs 5.16 crore, inaugurated community centres worth Rs 1.55 crore in Rampur and Daleepgarh and a dharamshala worth Rs 7.8 lakh.

Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Vij said major projects approved for Ambala Cantonment included a war memorial worth Rs 200 crore to come up on GT Road, bank square worth Rs 100 crore, car parking Rs 3 crore, upgrade of civil hospital, new cancer hospital, welcome gate worth Rs 2 crore, widening of 12 roads, beautification of busy intersections and a sports stadium worth Rs 60 crore. Besides, civic projects pertaining to water, sewerage and power worth another Rs 100 crore have also been approved for the city.

Expressing gratitude for giving a lead of 30,000 votes to the BJP in the recently held Lok Sabah election from Ambala Cantonment Assembly segment, the five-time MLA of the saffron party said the BJP governments at the Centre and in Haryana were committed for the overall development and welfare of the country and state, especially Ambala Cantonment. He accused the successive Congress governments at the Centre and in Haryana of ignoring Haryana and Ambala Cantonment in terms of development.
