Kayakalp team inspects GMCH

Chandigarh: A Kayakalp team from Delhi inspected the GMCH-32 here on Wednesday. Members of the team took a round of the hospital and checked various facilities. The hospital was inspected to promote cleanliness and enhance the quality of public health facilities. Officials said a report on the team's visit would be complied in Delhi. R-Day preparations reviewed

Chandigarh: Deputy Commissioner Mandip Singh Brar on Wednesday reviewed the   preparations for the Republic Day celebrations   during a meeting  held at his office  in Sector  17 here. Over   12 departments were directed to display their tableaux during the celebrations.   Arjun Sharma, Additional Commissioner, Nazuk Kumar, SDM, and other officials of the UT Administration were present at the meeting. Devinder is Kurali MC VP

Kharar: Devinder Singh Thakur was unanimously elected as the vice-president of the Kurali Municipal Council in the elections held here. He was elected to the council on the SAD ticket. Kharar SDM Vinod Bansal presided over a special meeting of the council as the convener. The SDM said out of a total of 18 members, including the Kharar MLA, only 10 members attended the meeting. The name of Devinder Singh Thakur was proposed by Paramjeet Singh Pammi and it was seconded by Vishu Aggarwal. Later, Ranjit Singh Gill, Halqa in-charge of the SAD, congratulated Devinder Singh Thakur. OC

Two held with liquor boxes

Kharar: The police arrested two persons following the recovery of 36 liquor boxes from their possession near Khanpur village on Wednesday. The police signalled the driver of an Innova SUV bearing registration number PB29Q6969 to stop at a naka at Khanpur village. On seeing the police, the driver of the vehicle tried to flee from the spot. The police, however, stopped the vehicle. During the search, 36 boxes of liquor were recovered from the Innova. The police arrested Jagdev Singh and Hardev Singh, both residents of Moga. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the suspects. OC

LED globe lights in Sec 22

Chandigarh: Ravi Kant Sharma, councillor of Ward No. 3, formally started LED globe lights at the Sector 22 market on Wednesday. Old lights have been replaced with 40 Watt LED globe lights. The lights were installed from Malhotra Paper Mart to Jeweller Market in Sector 22 here. TNS
