The local Municipal Corporation (MC) has decided to dedicate the 47th Rose Festival to the CRPF jawans martyred in the Pulwama terror attack.

In this regard, a meeting was held in the office of the civic body today. MC Commissioner KK Yadav, Senior Deputy Mayor Hardeep Singh, Deputy Mayor Kanwarjit Rana, councillors and senior officials of the MC attended the meeting.

After detailed discussions, it was unanimously decided that the festival will be dedicated to the nation and patriotism. All cultural events to be organised at the three-day event have been cancelled. It was decided that patriotic songs and instrumental performances will mark the event.

It was decided that a few traditional competitions for children will be organised. These include the Rose Prince and Princess, a photography contest, kite-flying competition (in Tricolour only), a quiz and on-the-spot painting competition.

The savings from the budget approved for the festival will be dedicated to the families of the CRPF martyrs.

In addition, it was decided that a cultural evening of patriotic songs and plays will be organised on February 23 at the main stage. 

It was also decided to set up an enclosure in front of the entry gate of the venue, Rose Garden in Sector 16 here, which will be dedicated to the Pulwama martyrs. Dignitaries and visitors to the three-day event will pay homage to the martyrs.
