Rohan shines in Gurukul’s victory, GNPS win girls’ title

Rohan scored 26 points to help Gurukul Global School (Mani Majra) win the Servo Youth State Basketball Championship, concluded at New Public School (Sector 18) here today. The Mani Majra outfit defeated Guru Nanak Public School (Sector 36) 92-82 to win the title. 

Besides Rohan, Amrendra also played an important role in the team’s win as he contributed 25 points. Gurukul Global lads won the first quarter 23-17, followed by winning the second quarter 23-15. Guru Nanak School boys tried to comeback in the third quarter by giving a tough fight, but they continue to trail and lost the third quarter marginally by 19-18. 

In the last quarter, Guru Nanak School logged a 28-31 win but by the time it was too late to make a comeback. Harman alone gathered 42 points for the Guru Nanak School, while Gagandeep contributed 25 points. New Public School (Sector 18) claimed the third position in the category. 

In the girls' category, Guru Nanak School lifted the title by defeating Vivek High School (Sector 38) 32-11. 

Riya and Anjali scored eight points in the team's victory. Anushka (4 points) and Prachi (3 points) were the top two performers for the Sector 38 team. Carmel Convent School (Sector 9) finished third in the four-day long tourney.
