Chandigarh, February 20

Residents of villages, which were recently merged with the Municipal Corporation, are irked over the bad condition of roads.

Residents of Daria village said nobody was taking care of roads in their village now.

Sunil, a resident of the village, said while earlier, the UT Administration used to re-carpet roads, all repair works had been stopped ever since the village was transferred to the MC.

He said when they took up the matter with UT officials, they told them that it was now the responsibility of the MC. However, when MC officials were approached, they said roads were yet to be transferred to the civic body, he added.

The condition of roads is no different at Makhan Majra village here.

Kulwant Singh, a resident of the village, said the departments concerned should sort out the issue and start re-carpeting roads, which have become dangerous.
