Chandigarh, December 7

Rishabh Sharda overcame Great Britain’s James Story in three sets to book a semifinals berth in the ongoing International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Grade-III Tennis Tournament at Pune today.

A Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association trainee, Sharda started off with a 6-2 win, but lost the second set 2-6. Sharda was, however, quick to make the amends as he packed off the Briton with a 6-4 win in the decider.

Pairing with Dev Javia, Sharda also reached the boys’ doubles final. The duo overwhelmed Abhimanyu Vannemreddy and Sacchitt Sharma 7-6 6-2 in the semifinals. Sharda had recently won two back-to-back ITF Grade V tournaments in Dhaka.
