Residents, docs pedal for healthy heart in Mohali

In a bid to create awareness about healthy heart, the Punjab Health Department organised a cycle rally on World Heart Day here today. Over 100 cyclists, including residents and government as well as private doctors, participated in the rally.

The rally, which was organised in association with a city-based NGO, Generation Saviour Association, started from Phase V at 6:30 am and culminated at Phase XI.

Dr Avneet Kaur, Director, Health Department, while flagging off the rally, said the purpose behind organising the rally was to sensitise the citizens to the ways to keep their hearts healthy and strong.

She said: “We need to change our lifestyle if we want to stay away from heart ailments and other diseases. Changing lifestyle is not a challenging task.”

Speaking on the occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh said: “There is a need to consume healthy and nutritious products as heart diseases are increasing in our daily life”.
