The controversy over the land belonging to Banur civic body took another turn on Tuesday when Congress’ Rajpura MLA Hardial Singh Kamboj installed a signboard of the civic body there.

The 88-bigha land is situated near the national highway at the Bhesi Isse Khan village. Kamboj alleged that the land had been transferred to the local land mafia and the mutation of land had also been executed.

He alleged that some senior government officials were helping the land mafia.Kamboj claimed,“Revenue officials have already transferred it to the land mafia, which may not be possible without the involvement of senior officials of the Revenue Department.”

Meanwhile, Revenue Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria ordered a probe into the matter. The minister said it was a serious matter and he had asked the Financial Commissioner (Revenue) to conduct a probe and submit a report.
