Mohali, August 21

Recent downpour wreaked havoc in the city and left most of the roads full of potholes. The situation has been worst in Industrial Area.

Deepak Kumar, a local industrialist, said following heavy rainfall in the past couple of days, several parts of Industrial Area remained waterlogged. “Heavy rain and water accumulation on roads resulted in big potholes. Several roads have also caved in at many places,” said Deepak Kumar.

A road leading from Mohali village towards the new ISBT at Phase 6 has bore the maximum brunt with potholes as big as craters making commute almost difficult. Paramjit Singh, a local resident, said, “Due to huge potholes on this stretch, mishap happens every now and then. The broken road also damage vehicles.”

When contacted, Mohali Mayor Kulwant Singh said the incessant rain has caused major damage to the roads. “The repair work would start as soon as the weather becomes conducive for it.”
