Railways, West Bengal gymnasts bag overall titles

CHANDIGARH:The Railways men and West Bengal women were declared overall champions in the 55th Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championship.

The Railways men and West Bengal women were declared overall champions in the 55th Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championship.

In the men’s category, Railways scored 368.35 points to bag the title. Punjab finished second (325.15 points) and Haryana claimed the third spot with 3232.85 points.   

In the women’s category, West Bengal scored 250.95 points to win the title. Punjab finished second with 199.85 points. Railways finished at the third position with 197.85 points.   The Jammu and Kashmir girls (90.95 points) won the 24th Rhythmic Gymnastics National Championship. The Punjab girls claimed the second position with 78.80 points. Delhi finished third with 73.60 points.     

Jammu and Kashmir girl Palak Kaur (46.55 points) won the overall individual best title. Prabhajot Kaur of Punjab finished second with 45.05 points. Mitali claimed the third position with 42.30 points.  In the apparatus (ribbon) final, Palak (11.30 points) claimed the first position. Prabhjot finished second with a score of 10.20 points. Inderpreet Kaur finished third with 9.20 points. 

In the hoop event, Mitali claimed the top spot with 11.05 points. Inderpreet of Delhi finished at the second position with 10.60 points. Palak claimed the third position with 10.20 points.

Indian Railways gymnasts Aditya Rana (75.30), Siddharth Verma (74.80) and Abhilekh Parashar of Rajasthan (73.20) were declared all-round best gymnasts in the men’s category. In the ball event, Palak (12.10 points), Vandhana Bharti (11.25 points) and Richa Chopra (10.90 points) won the top honours.  In the club finals, Prabhjot finished at the first position with 11.10 points while Kirandeep Pabla finished second with 10.30 points. Mitali claimed the third spot with 10.25 points.
