Pvt schools to remain shut in protest today

CHANDIGARH:Member schools of the Independent School Association, which includes most of the private schools in the tricity, will remain shut on Saturday as part of a nationwide call from the National Independent School Association (NISA) to protest for autonomy of private schools.

Member schools of the Independent School Association, which includes most of the private schools in the tricity, will remain shut on Saturday as part of a nationwide call from the National Independent School Association (NISA) to protest for autonomy of private schools. Those schools which are centres for the Class 12th CBSE exams will remain open. However, they would not hold classes.

HS Mamik, president, Independent School Association, said: “A number of private schools across the country are protesting under the ‘Save Education’ slogan. "We are seeking straight-forward policies from the government. For the past 10 years, we have been admitting students under the EWS. Still no reimbursements have been made as governments do not have money. ,” he said. St Anne's Convent School, Sector 32, will remain closed.  “Panchkula and Mohali schools are also joining us. St Kabir Public School, Vivek High and Saupin’s School from Chandigarh will remain closed,” Mamik said. — TNS
