Punjab Assembly Speaker takes salute from contingents

MOHALI:The Punjab Assembly Speaker, Rana KP Singh, took salute from the march past by contingents of the Punjab Police, Guardians of Governance (GoG), Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Government College, Mohali, and the NCC as well as scouts of various schools at the 73rd Independence Day celebrations here on Thursday.

The Punjab Assembly Speaker, Rana KP Singh, took salute from the march past by contingents of the Punjab Police, Guardians of Governance (GoG), Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Government College, Mohali, and the NCC as well as scouts of various schools at the 73rd Independence Day celebrations here on Thursday. 

Rana KP Singh along with the Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan and SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal also inspected the parade.

 Students from Lawrence Public School, Government Primary School, APJ Public School, Kharar, Shastri Model School, Shivalik Public School, Sant Waryam Singh Memorial School, Ratwara Sahib, besides personnel of the Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar office, presented bhangra and other cultural events on the occasion. 

Besides, tableaus of the Health, Agriculture, Soil and Water Conservation, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Education and Forest Departments, Punjab Energy Development Authority, District Legal Services Authority, Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna, Punjab Skill Development Mission, Punjab Police and Verka also attracted attention. 

The Speaker also honoured freedom fighter Swaran Singh from and Gurdeep Singh, both from Jhajjon village, by presenting a shawl. 

The eminent people from other spheres, platoon commanders of teams participating in the programme, teams presenting cultural items and players were also honoured on the occasion. 

The Speaker and the Deputy Commissioner also released balloons as symbols of peace during the function.
