Chandigarh, December 3

In view of the call given by the Punjab Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisations , the Panjab University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) will wear black badges tomorrow against the non-implementation of the 7th Pay Commission and “callous” attitude of the Punjab Government.

Almost all states have already have either implemented or are in the process of issuing the notification for new pay scales for University and College teachers, as already notified by the UGC/MHRD, the association stated.

Representatives of PUTA, met the PU Vice-Chancellor today to inquire about the action taken by his office regarding the meetings of selection committees for the promotion of teachers under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS), which were cancelled at the last minute in September.

PUTA president Rajesh Gill said the Vice-Chancellor has assured them that he would hold these meetings/interviews in December. “In case, the meetings are not held, we will launch an agitation against the authorities,” said Gill.
