PU scholar gets Newton-Bhabha PhD placement

CHANDIGARH: Shelja Sharma, a PhD research scholar from the Department of Chemistry, Panjab University (PU), bagged the Newton-Bhabha PhD placement 2017-2018, as per the results declared by the British Council.

Shelja Sharma, a PhD research scholar from the Department of Chemistry, Panjab University (PU), bagged the Newton-Bhabha PhD placement 2017-2018, as per the results declared by the British Council.

Shelja is currently working under the supervision of Prof Sushil Kumar Kansal from Dr Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology and Prof SK Mehta of the PU Chemistry Department.

The research group primarily focuses on devising efficient and novel nano-materials for the detection of heavy metals using fluorescence-sensing techniques and for the wastewater treatment using heterogeneous photocatalysis, adsorption.

She will be sponsored by the British Council and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, at the University of Hull, UK. —TNS
