Chandigarh, April 16

Prof Arun Kumar Grover, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University (PU), expressed his grief and shock over the demise of veteran journalist and political commentator S Nihal Singh on Monday.

Prof Grover said the PU had lost an iconic alumnus. An avid reader and connoisseur of fine sensibilities, the octogenarian journalist and author Nihal Singh had donated a vast collection of books which were a part of his personal library to the School of Communication Studies (SCS), Panjab University (PU), informed Prof Grover.

The repository of books, which includes rare and special editions, along with books in German, Russian, French and Malayalam, besides English, is accessible to public at the S Nihal Singh Book Corner at the SCS – a special reading corner dedicated to his collection. Nihal Singh had also delivered the prestigious PU colloquium. TNS
