MOHALI:Panjab University girls started off their campaign with a 4-0 win over DAV University, Jalandhar, in the North Zone Inter-University Chess Tournament at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, today.

Panjab University girls started off their campaign with a 4-0 win over DAV University, Jalandhar, in the North Zone Inter-University Chess Tournament at Chandigarh University, Gharuan, today. 

University of Delhi blanked Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, 4-0 in their opening encounter, while Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, humbled Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University Of Science And Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, 3-1. Thapar University overcame Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra, 3-2.

Himachal Pradesh University played out a 2-2 draw against IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, and Chitkara University, Rajpura, defeated Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, 3-1. 

Punjabi University scored a 2.5-1.5 win over Guru Jambheshwar University. 

In the men’s competition, University of Delhi drubbed DCRUST 4-0. Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, registered an identical win over Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. — TNS
