PU boys clinch tennis gold

CHANDIGARH:Panjab University boys beat Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, 3-0 to win the gold medal in the North Zone Tennis Tournament held at Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, today.

Panjab University boys beat Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, 3-0 to win the gold medal in the North Zone Tennis Tournament held at Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, today. 

By virtue of today’s victory, the team has also qualified for the All India Inter University Tennis Championship to be held at KIIT University, Bhuvneshwar, in December. 

Earlier, in semifinals, Panjab University had defeated Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, 3-0, while in the quarterfinals, the side blanked Jind University, 3-0, to qualify in the final four. 

Besides Panjab University, Maharshi Dayanand University, Kurukshtra University and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University have also qualified for the all-India level championship. 

Panjab University team comprised Hardeep Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Sultan Singh Atwal, Jagmeet Singh and Parav Dev Garg.
