PRTC lays out expansion plans for 2019 to boost revenue

The Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) has laid out proper expansion plans for the next year to ensure that the public utility becomes financially strong. The PRTC has decided to add 100 new buses to its fleet to increase its daily mileage.

On date, the PRTC has a sanctioned fleet of 1,075 buses but they are currently running about 1,050 buses after the addition of 150 new buses in the past one-and-a-half years. With these new buses, the corporation will become a step closer in achieving their daily sanctioned mileage of 3.50 lakh km.

The corporation has fixed a revenue target of Rs 611 crore for 2018-19. The corporation has spread its services to nine states and on date, it has 1,050 buses for 3,55,827 km. Ever since the PRTC was started,  the number of buses gone up by over 17 times and routes stretched by 32 times.

PRTC managing director Manjit Singh Narang said the target for 2017-18 was Rs 505.53 crore whereas the corporation had earned Rs 562.19 crore, which is Rs 56.66 crore more than the target.
