Proclaimed offender held for INSO leader’s murder

The Chandigarh Police arrested one of the accused in the murder of an INSO leader, which was reported in Sector 44 here last year.

The accused, Sanjeev Malik, was nabbed from Kurukshetra by a team led by Sector 24 police post in-charge sub-inspector Rohitash Singh.

The accused was declared a proclaimed offender by the local court. He also had a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. The accused was produced before a court today, which sent him to one-day police remand.

The victim, Pardeep, along with Mohinder Singh, and Prince, who were INSO supporters, were attacked with sharp weapons in Sector 44 on January 8, 2016, as they had allegedly attacked HSA supporters at DAV College, Sector 10, in 2015.

Sachin Nehra, who has affiliation with the HSA, was stabbed at DAV College in 2015 by INSO supporters.

On January 8, Pardeep, along with others, had come to the District Courts in Sector 43 for hearing in a case. After the hearing, they went to Sector 44 where the accused arrived and attacked them with sharp weapons, following which a case was registered at the Sector 34 police station against several youths. Charges of murder were later added to the case. A total of 10 persons have been arrested in the case.


Accused sent to police remand

The accused was declared a proclaimed offender by the local court. He also had a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head. The accused was produced before a court on Friday, which sent him to one-day police remand.
