Priyanshu starts off with a win

Priyanshu overcame Pragun 5-4(4) in the opening round of the boys’ U-14 category on the inaugural day of the Sunrise Tennis Open here on Saturday.

Madhav blanked Danish 5-0, while Sehaj registered a 5-2 win over Navjot to seal a spot in the second round. 

In the girls’ U-14 category, Vanya drubbed Mankirat 5-0 in the opening round. Maaliha edged out Akshita 5-1, while Poonam humbled Kanishka 5-3. Jiya dumped Renu 5-0.

Vismay, Sidak advances 

Vismay eased into the boys’ U-12 second round with a comfortable 5-3 win over Akhil. Evan dismissed Prabhdeep 5-1, while Aditya prevailed 5-4(5) over Tanay. 

Sehaj had an easy first round as he packed off Madhav 5-3. Kanav registered a 5-2 win over Amrat 5-2, while Pragun survived a close battle against Abhinav. He won 5-4(3).

Sidak trounced Ekam 5-0 in the girls’ U-12 opening round, while Niharika beat Mehak 5-3. Inayat conceded her first-round match against Akshita. Inayat was trailing 0-3 when she decided to quit.

Hriday moves ahead

In the boys’ U-16 category, Hriday dispatched Dhruv 5-3, while Kartik blanked Navjot 5-0. Vansh thumped Ishan 5-1 to move into the second round.

Lakshya and Jagteswar also won their respective first round matches. While Lakshya beat Daksh 5-3, Jagteswar registered a 5-2 win over Dhruv.

Vanya had an easy outing against Avni in the girls’ U-16 opening round. Vanya won 5-0. In another match, Khushi registered a 5-3 win over Muskan 5-3

In the combine U-10 competition, Kavin started his campaign with a 4-0 win over Ekam. Advit downed Rabiya 4-1, while Arnay blanked Vanya 4-0. 

Harsh registered a 4-2 win over Ditti. Aarav ousted Sehaj 4-1, while Himanish overcame Ayaan 4-3(6). 

Paavni moved into the second round with a 4-1 win over Avneet. Japleen prevailed 4-3(6) against Aanya.
