Presenting a musical bouquet

Chandigarh, February 18

Amateur artistes, including engineers and academics, presented diverse genres of music and dance in a colorful cultural bonanza ‘ Yuva Umang’, organised by the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi at Tagore Theatre here today. 

Designed and directed by acclaimed music director Atul Sharma, the absorbing programme  commenced with a tribute to the soldiers killed in the Pulwama terror attack with a soulful rendition of  “Ae mere watan ke logo” by Rashi Kaushal. 

While kathak danseuse Nikhar brought alive the divine love of  Radha and Krishna, 16 junior dancers from the Swadha group presented two dance items on taranas. 

A break-dance ensemble and magic show by Kabir Sharma kept the audience in good humour. Algoza player Anupreet teamed up with  Gurpreet.    

A  ghazal “Neeyte shauq” by Sagar Sharma set the melodic pace, maintained by versatile singers in several love songs. Folk and Sufi singers stole the limelight with Jatinder Taank presenting “Mera yaar kamli da..”. 

Yajur Brar presented “Ve jaan waleya” while Rajat Raj took  the programme to a spectacular level with concluding Sufi number “Alf Allah Chambe di booti’. Lovely Vinod provided orchestra support. 

Eminent  thespian Dr Atamjit, CSNA chairman Kamal Arora and  Atul Sharma graced the occasion.
