Policeman hailing from Kerala hurt in hit-&-run

In a hit and run case a constable from Kerala was injured when an unidentified car driver hit him while the former directed him to stop at a naka on the Zirakpur-Kalka highway on the intervening night of May 8-9. 

Injured constable has been identified as Vishnuraj (30), a resident Palatra village falling in Kollam district of Kerala. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Sector 6,  for treatment. 

Vishnuraj in his complaint to the police stated that he was on duty along with Duty Magistrate Parminder Singh at a barricade on the Zirakpur-Kalka highway. He said they directed driver of the white coloured luxury car to stop for checking on the slip road. The latter slowed down the car and after reaching near him accelerated the vehicle pushing him on its bonnet, he added. 

He said after this he fell on the road and received injuries on his right knee, arm and other parts of the body. He did not remember the exact make of the car, but it was either an Accent, Honda City or Skoda car, the constable added. He said he could identify the car driver if he comes before him. 

The police has registered a case against the unidentified driver against Sections 279 and 337, IPC, and launched a manhunt to nab the suspect.
