UT DGP Sanjay Baniwal on Monday inaugurated a composting pit at the Police Lines in Sector 26 here.

A tree plantation drive was also organised at the Police Lines, which was followed by a seminar on ‘Go green police stations and go green force’.

Santosh Kumar, Director (Environment)-cum-Chief Conservator of Forest, UT, who was present on the occasion, delivered a lecture on solar power plant installations at police stations and explained about the advantages of the cleanest source of energy.

On the occasion, the DGP directed all SHOs to strive for making police stations green. 

‘Palash’ saplings were also distributed among SHOs for plantation at their respective police stations. — TNS
