Drugs, two-timing two sisters, regular need of aphrodisiacs and roaming around, including watching movies twice in the past week, did gangster Dilpreet Singh in, according to the investigation carried out by the police a day after his arrest.

Announcing the arrest of the two sisters, Harpreet Kaur (a widow and mother of two) and her younger sister Rupinder Kaur (living separately from her husband), both accomplices of Dilpreet, the Punjab Police said a week before his dramatic chase and arrest, Dilpreet Singh had watched two movies with his alleged girlfriend Rupinder Kaur at Elante Mall here.

Movie tickets, dated July 3, of the 10.15 pm show of movie “Race 3” were found from his bag. Rupinder Kaur has revealed that she saw the movie with him and later, on July 5 or 6, they watched the “Sanju” movie.

The police said Dilpreet‘s gang consisted of mainly 21 members, eight of whom have been arrested earlier. His closest aide, Harwinder Rinda, is on the run.

The gang thrived on smuggling heroin and supplying arms to other gangsters, besides making ransom calls and collecting money from easy targets, including Punjabi film actors, sand mining contractors and even doctors. Dilpreet was roaming around and often visited his hideout in Nawanshahr, which was a house owned by Harpreet Kaur.

AIG Varinder Paul Singh and the SSP (Jalandhar Rural) told The Tribune that the women revealed during interrogation that Dilpreet was hooked on various drugs for some time, but since February this year, he had got addicted to heroin. As per their statement, he used to consume opium earlier.

A bag has also been recovered from the possession of Rupinder Kaur and drugs, a lighter, foil paper, a mobile phone, medicine to enhance sex power (viagra and suhagra), condoms, shilajit, chandarprabhavati and three containers of powder (without label) have been recovered from it.

They said Dilpreet came in contact with  Harpreet Kaur first after his release from Kapurthala jail. They became friends and he, along with his other gang members, started to stay with her. During these days, he also met the younger sister of Harpreet Kaur namely Rupinder Kaur, who was residing in a rented house in Sector 38-C, Chandigarh. For the past one year, he was more inclined towards Rupinder Kaur and used to stay with her since November 2017 onwards. Rupinder Kaur disclosed that drugs and arms and ammunition belonging to Dilpreet Singh was lying at the residence of Harpreet Kaur at Nawanshahr. In November 2017, he also trimmed his beard and hair, and stayed with Rupinder Kaur in Chandigarh.

A police official said the recoveries reveal that he used to project himself as a clean person, but was actually taking drugs and living in luxury. He was befooling people by fixing a fake beard whereas he was living with Rupinder Kaur in Chandigarh from the past eight months as her husband and was supplying drugs and arms.
