Police identify accused; raids on to nab them

In a case of attack on a private security guard at a jewellery shop here last night, the Mohali police claimed to have identified the accused.

The police said the accused and their Verna car, in which they had come to the spot, have been identified.

“Raids are on to nab them,” said the police.

When contacted, DSP (City 1) Alam Vijay Singh said the details of the accused could not be divulged for obvious reasons. “They would be in the police net soon,” said DSP Alam Vijay Singh.

The police have registered a case under Sections 307, 392 and 34 of the IPC against the unknown persons at the Mataur police station.

Meanwhile, the victim, Tilak Raj, was first referred from a private hospital to the PGI, Chandigarh. Later, he was referred from the PGI to the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, from where he was discharged this afternoon.

Tilak Raj was attacked by two masked youths yesterday night when he was on duty after the closure of the shop, Timeless Jewels, at the Phase 3B2 market, here.

The assailants hit Tikal Raj on the head with a baseball bat and snatched his single-barreled gun before fleeing in their Verna car.
