Mohali, August 13

After registering a case against the owner and a staff member of a discotheque, Walking Street Club, at Phase 11 here for the second time on Sunday, the Mohali police are all set to recommend the cancellation of its licence now.

Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal said he would be writing to the Mohali Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate to take action in this regard soon.

“I am recommending the cancellation of licence of the discotheque in question,” said SSP Chahal.

It is to be noted that the Mohali police have already registered two cases against the discotheque management in a span of around 20 days.

On Sunday, the police have booked the owner and a staff member of the discotheque for illegal detention of party revellers, disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant and illegal sale of liquor, meant for sale in Chandigarh, here.

In July, a case of disobedience of order duly promulgated by public servant under Section 188 of the IPC was also registered against them for running their business after the deadline of 12 midnight. The SSP said all such premises were under the police surveillance and similar action would be initiated against habitual offenders. — TNS
