Chandigarh, July 16

The management of the PGIMER will again take up the issue of queue management system with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday.

An officer said during the last meeting of the Standing Finance Committee, some suggestions, including studying the queue management system at AIIMS, Delhi, were given for management of the ever-increasing load of patients at the OPD.

Under the said system, a token would be provided to the patient during registration. The number would be displayed on a screen placed outside the doctor's room and it would help the patient to know about his estimated waiting time. Similarly, the doctor would be provided with digital devices where details of patients visiting for consultation would be notified. The cost of the project would nearly Rs 7 crore, said the officer.— TNS
