PGI Director lists achievements

Chandigarh: Prof Jagat Ram, Director, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), listed out the achievement of the institute after unfurling the National Flag on the occasion of 71st Independence Day. While enumerating the achievements of the Institute, Prof Jagat Ram said the Government of India has twice selected the PGIMER as one of the cleanest hospitals of the country. Under the seventh pay commission, employees have been given increased salaries. The process of filling the vacant posts is continuing, he stressed. He said in the last one year, 109 doctors have been appointed, 38 have been promoted under the Assessment Promotion Scheme, 22 have been made senior professors and 128 got financially upgraded under the MACP/ACP.  TNS

200 take part in painting event 

Mohali: Indian School of Business (ISB) hosted 200 children from an underprivileged background on Independence Day as part of their annual flagship event ‘Bandhan’. Children from a humble background participated in painting and kite-flying activities organised by the ISB students. The event was part of a concerted effort to understand and act upon the need for social inclusion and engagement among the communities. TNS

Hockey legend unfurls Tricolour at PU

Chandigarh: Independence Day celebrations at Panjab University took off with the unfurling of National Flag on the campus by Balbir Singh Senior, hockey legend, Padma Shri and Khel Rattan awardee along with Vice-Chancellor Arun Kumar Grover. Balbir Singh, in his key note address, dedicated all his medals and awards to the nation and PU. Grover listed achievements and initiatives of the university and described 2016-17 as a challenging year and referred to various long-term initiatives taken to counter the challenges before the university. Independence Day celebrated

Chandigarh: The day was also celebrated at the Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, and the PEC University of Technology. The students presented a kaleidoscope of activities like patriotic songs, speeches and dances. TNS
