Patwari’s assistant nabbed taking bribe

Patiala, April 17

The Vigilance Bureau on Tuesday nabbed an assistant of a patwari while accepting Rs 8,000 bribe. A case has been registered against patwari Rajinder Kumar, his accomplice and assistant Kirpal Singh for accepting bribe. Kanungo Mangat Ram has also been named in the FIR.

Complainant Ramneek Gupta had contacted the patwari and his accomplice for mutation of two properties. Rajinder Kumar demanded Rs 8,000 in bribe from him. The vigilance officials laid a trap and caught Kirpal Singh while accepting the bribe in Tripuri. Patwari Rajinder Kumar is on the run. 

The police have registered a case under Sections 7 (taking gratification in respect of an official act), 8 (taking gratification by corrupt means), 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 120-B (party to a criminal conspiracy) of the IPC. — TNS
