Patiala girls thrash Bengal 17-0

CHANDIGARH:Taranpreet Kaur scored nine goals as Hockey Patiala thrashed Bengal Hockey Association 17-0 in a pool A match on the fourth day of the Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship in Sikar, Rajasthan, on Saturday.

Taranpreet Kaur scored nine goals as Hockey Patiala thrashed Bengal Hockey Association 17-0 in a pool A match on the fourth day of the Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship in Sikar, Rajasthan, on Saturday. 

Taranpreet struck in the 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, 12th, 33rd, 43rd, 47th and 49th minutes. Sukhveer Kaur (3rd, 7th, 14th, 45th, 53rd) scored five goals, while captain Mitali (6th), Navneet Kaur (24th) and Shamandeep Kaur (32nd) added a goal each to the Patiala tally. 

In pool B, Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd registered a 2-0 win over Goans Hockey. Alreya D’Souza (20th) and Hetal Goswami (56th) scored a goal apiece for Mumbai. 

Hockey Madhya Bharat defeated Hockey Uttarakhand 5-2 in a pool C encounter. Shileima Chanu Khaidem (44th, 50th) scored a brace, while captain Hema Rajak (5th), Aayushi Patel (11th) and Sneha Patel (34th) struck a goal each for Madhya Bharat. Captain Monika Uniyal (22nd) and Khushi (59th) scored for Hockey Uttarakhand. 

In another pool C match, Sports Authority of Gujarat - Hockey Academy drubbed Vidarbha Hockey Association 4-1. Rasvanti Baria (4th, 6th), Chhaya Taral (20th) and Kinjal Taral (43rd) hit home for the Gujarat side. Tanisha Sengar (11th) scored the solitary goal for Vidarbha.

Kashish Patel, meanwhile, struck six times to lead Hockey Gujarat to a 9-0 win over Puducherry in a pool D match. Kashish found the net in 20th, 29th, 37th, 45th, 51st and 53rd minutes. Captain Parachi Nikam (15th), Vrusti Patel (43rd) and Jyoti Divakar (47th) scored a goal each for Hockey Gujarat. 

Hockey Rajasthan also won their pool D encounter. They beat Mumbai School Sports Association 5-0. Ranjana Bhardwaj (34th, 43rd) struck a double, while Usha Kumari (13th), Sakshi Shukla (36th) and Chetnarani Das (53rd) found the back of the net once each.
