Paras, Nishunk help Chandigarh to easy victory

A fine bowling performance helped Chandigarh register an innings and 63 runs win over Patiala and garner seven points in the ongoing Punjab Inter-District Cricket Championship at the Dhruv Pandove Stadium in Patiala. 

Pacers Paras (7/38) and Nishunk Birla (6/25) bowled well in the both the innings to help Chandigarh register an outright win.    

Chasing Chandigarh’s first innings total of 222 runs, Patiala were sent packing for just 64 runs by the duo of Paras and Birla. Trailing by 158 runs, the Patiala batsmen were forced to follow-on but failed to chase down the total as they scored 95 runs to slump to an outright defeat. Paras this time claimed three wickets while Birla claimed two.

Earlier, resuming on their overnight total of 25/4, Patiala lost Vikram Rehni (0) and Dev Ampitpal (0) quickly. Kuvar Pratap Singh and Vihaan Malhotra raised a 24-run partnership for the seventh wicket to push the total to 49. However, Birla claimed three back-to-back wickets to push Patiala to 54/9. In their second innings, Patiala were bundled out for 95 runs. Openers Aryan Yadav and Dev Amitpal scored 26 runs for the first wicket stand while no other batsmen scored for the side.  For Punjab, Paras claimed three wickets while Birla, Ritik and Ripudaman took two each.

Aryan’s double ton helps Mohali against Zone-A

Mohali played out a draw against Zone-A at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. Mohali took three points on the basis of first innings lead. Zone-A claimed one point. Aryan Bhatia scored an unbeaten knock of 207 runs off 239 balls, studded with 19 boundaries and 11 sixes.

Amritsar get three points

Hosts Amritsar played out a draw against Jalandhar to get three points at Gandhi Grounds. Chasing Amritsar’s first innings total of 296 runs, Jalandhar posted 207 runs. Aditya Joshi (69) and Arjun Rajput (45) contributed for their team. Sagar Sawal claimed four wickets while Varundeep claimed three. Amritsar declared their second innings on 76/4 while Jalandhar posted 75/6 at the end of the day.
