Paper leak scam: Vigilance team leaves for Delhi

To nab the rest seven accused in the infamous paper leak scam, a team of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has been dispatched to conduct raids in Delhi.

Notably, the Punjab Government had conducted recruitment tests for posts of Assistant Corporation Engineer (Civil), Assistant Municipal Engineer (Civil) and Sub-Divisional Engineer (Civil) in the Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, Nagar Panchayat and Improvement Trust on November 8 and November 15, 2015. The gang was involved in leaking question papers for various senior-level posts, including SDO and JE, of different departments, including Punsup, PUDA, Local Bodies and Irrigation.

According to sources, the Vigilance Flying Squad I team got some vital clues about possible hideouts of the accused during the questioning of the recently arrested accused, Sailesh Kumar and Sanjay Shrivastava, alias Guruji, alias Mithlesh Pandey, alias Masterji. The team, led by Inspector Satwant Singh Sidhu, has also taken along the mastermind of the scam, Sailesh Kumar.

Inspector Sidhu said they had got some vital clues about the absconding accused.

Notably, the team had nabbed Sailesh Kumar, Guruji, Anup Kumar and Shiv Bahadur Singh recently. So far, the Vigilance has arrested 85 accused, including 55 candidates-cum-conduits.
