Panchkula, September 4

After recent rainfall, roads in the city are in bad shape. The condition of roads is so bad that motorists are finding it difficult on the roads, which are full of potholes.

Sample this: A road separating Sector 1-2 and right in front of the BJP office is full of potholes.

Similarly, Bella Vista roundabout in Sector 1-2-5-6 is also full of potholes. Besides, roads of the Industrial Area have also turned virtually death traps.

Varun Gupta, a resident of Sector 7, said the authorities were least concerned about the roads, whether it is Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) or the Panchkula MC.

Echoing similar views, Sameer Sethi, a resident of Sector 16, here, said not even a single road is without pothole.

Mayor, councillors meet Urban Bodies Dept official

Mayor Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia, along with 12 councillors, met the principal secretary of the Urban Local Bodies Department, Anand Mohan Sharan, and submitted more than 80 files of development works, including re-carpeting of roads, that are lying pending with officials. The MC Commissioner, Joint Commissioner and other officials are not clearing files. On the Mayor’s demand, Sharan sought seven days’ time and assured that files would be cleared.
