Panchkula, September 14

As the date for Assembly polls in the state may be announced anytime, Panchkula MLA Gian Chand Gupta is leaving no stone unturned to woo  voters across the district. He is on a foundation stone-laying  and project-inaugurating spree these days. On an average, the legislator is attending at least two-three such programmes every day.

On September 12, Gupta laid the foundation stone of 7,500 Ashiana flats for rehabilitation of slum dwellers at Rajiv-Indira Colony. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 650 crore. The same day, he laid the foundation stone of a road connecting Sector 20-21 and Sector 24-26 inaugurated a bridge over the Ghaggar at Khatauli village (estimated cost Rs 50.37 crore).

The incumbent MLA attended at least four events on September 4, five on September 5, four events a day later and seven events on September 12. Some of other development projects that he inaugurated were open gyms in parks and CCTV cameras in various parts of Panchkula city.

When asked the reason why he was rushing for project inaugurations and laying of foundation stones, MLA Gian Chand Gupta said, “Most of these projects were either completed or have got approval recently. For example, the construction of Chhath Puja ghat had begun a year ago and the work was completed recently.”
