Paddlers Vishal, Vaibhav triumph

CHANDIGARH: Vishal of Tender Heart School, Sector 33, registered a 3-2 win over Shaurya Mehndiratta to clinch the boys’ junior title on the concluding day of the ICSE Inter-School Table Tennis Tournament here.

Vishal of Tender Heart School, Sector 33, registered a 3-2 win over Shaurya Mehndiratta to clinch the boys’ junior title on the concluding day of the ICSE Inter-School Table Tennis Tournament here.

Vishal won the first two games 11-4 12-10, but Mehndiratta fought back to draw level with 11-9 12-10 win in the next two games. Vishal, though, kept his clam and won the decider 11-4 to claim the top spot.

Manish Khan downed Vardhaan 11-4 11-4 to finish third. 

Meanwhile in the men’s category, Vaibhav of hosts Tender Heart School drubbed Ekambir 11-7 11-9 12-10 to claim the title. 

Japneet came from behind to beat Paavna of Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, in the women’s final. 

Japneet lost the opening game 6-11 but recovered well with an 11-7 win in the next game. Paavna, though, regained the lead after winning the third game 11-7. Japneet, however, stayed calm and lifted her game to win the last two sets 11-8 11-8 to win the title. Teetiksha claimed the third position after beating Taqdeer 11-9 13-11.
